Online Support for Adults

Our online support groups are using the professional version of Zoom, which offers more security and has no time limit.

Parents will need to have a quiet place that they can go to talk confidentially. They will need to be able to use Zoom (guidance will be given) and they need to be willing to participate, while also listening to their peers. They need to try to attend these sessions regularly, in order to build up an online support network.

All live events will be subject to updated safeguarding procedures, including:

For all live events we are using Zoom Pro, the professional version of Zoom, using their Webinar feature which has higher levels of security, no 40 minute time limit and more control available than the free version used by individuals.

Adults booked in to any of our live events will be sent a Zoom code in advance. We will not publicise the passwords except to those who have booked the event in advance.

Further safeguarding procedures will be explained to all parent-carers who book on to any live events with Skylarks.

How to use Zoom:

Download the Zoom app on to your smart phone, laptop or tablet. It is free of charge.

This will need to be a device that has a microphone and webcam – all phones and tablets do, but not all laptops, so check first.

You will be emailed a link and all you need to do is click on this.

You do not need to sign in or have a user ID.

If you click on a meeting before it starts, you won’t be able to access the live meeting until the scheduled time.

Once you are in the chat, turn on your audio and video.

The controls may be split between the top and bottom of the screen or all together, depending on your device.

You can click on gallery view to see all participants at once.

The person who is speaking will be highlighted.

The Zoom code will be sent it advance. It will look like this:
