While Skylarks was not affected by Tier 2, 3 or 4 restrictions and continued to operate from the Crossway Centre in a Covid-compliant manner, we have unfortunately had to close from January 2021. We continue to offer a wide range of services online and are working to introduce more virtual activities. We will re-open for face-to-face services as soon as it is safe to do so.

SEND Advice Service

The SEND Advice Service at Skylarks offers free, impartial support and information in relation to the education needs of children and young people who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

What does the service provide?

The SEND Advice Service aims to empower families with the information they need via regular workshops and advice given individually. We advise on all aspects of education, please refer to our Menu of services for a full list of services we offer.

Our services are free to all, and we cover all geographical areas. We welcome any donations to help us continue to provide this valuable service.

Unfortunately we do not currently provide representation and support for appeals to the SEND Tribunal. However, we can advise you on how to proceed and will be able to signpost you to other organisations who may be able to assist.

How does the service work?

Our regular online workshops and complimentary fact sheets on key topics can be accessed via 'Book an online workshop' and 'Information'.

If you require 1:1 advice then please click on 'Request an appointment'. Your request will be sent to the SEND Advice Service who will contact you within 2 working days to arrange a mutually convenient time for an initial 30 minute phone or video call to either answer your query, or to gather information and agree the next steps for queries that may require further work.

Please note there is likely to be a minimum delay of a week before we can offer an available appointment slot.

Once you have requested an appointment, a button labelled 'Current SEND Advice queries' will be visible, where you will be able to upload paperwork, see any subsequent updates and contact the SEND Advice Service in relation to your initial call.

Most queries are managed in-house, but we also commission the services of Fiona Slomovic from AMC Ltd for more complex cases. These appointments will be arranged by the SEND Advice Service if after an assessment it is agreed input from Fiona is required. Please note these appointments are limited to 30 minutes and Fiona will not be managing the case, it is advice only.
