Gabi from Skylarks
Marble Hill Kitchen Garden
Mondays and Fridays over the summer holidays
We are pleased to be able to offer another place where you can bring your children play in some fresh air in a stress-free environment this summer.
English Heritage have very kindly allowed us exclusive use of their small kitchen garden at Marble Hill Park on Mondays and Fridays over the summer holidays.
This small gated garden is used by local community groups to grow vegetables. It has a fence round the garden with one access gate. There is grass and some benches.
The kitchen garden can be found very near the car park and just beyond the playcentres (which is unfortunately closed).
One member of our staff, Gabi, will be there and usually a volunteer too.
We will be social distancing, so please don’t expect hugs – but we will be happy to see you in real life!
We can have 2 families in the garden at the same time, but they will need to keep socially distant from each other. You are also welcome to come with one other family or grandparents if you are part of the same bubble and this will count as one family.
Our staff member will be there to help and supervise social distancing. Parents are however responsible for their children at all times.
We will provide some toys and activities that we will disinfect between uses. These will be low-key ground-based activities so that we don’t damage plants – no ball games unfortunately. If you book a reasonable time in advance, this will allow us to bring suitable toys and plan our activities accordingly. We are thinking puzzles, plastic baby toys, arts and crafts, sensory toys etc, but please let us know if there is one of our toys that your child particularly likes and we will do our best to bring it with us.
The sessions will take place in most weathers, unless it is very heavy rain. Please dress yourself and your children appropriately and bring sun cream, umbrellas or wellies, depending on the weather. There is no inside space or cover apart from some trees.
You are welcome to bring a picnic rug or a fold-up chair for your own use.
You may want to bring some toys or games for your own use.
You are strongly encouraged to wear a mask or visor and to keep 2 metres distant of Skylarks staff and other families. We will have hand sanitiser and wipes available but you may want to bring your own too.
There are public toilets in the portakabins on the edge of the car park. These are cleaned every morning. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet.
There is wheelchair access to market garden, as the ground is flat but it will involve going across grass
You are welcome to bring a picnic or other food. No nuts or sesame as usual please.
We will be holding 2 sessions there, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The times will be:
10.30 – 12
12.30 – 2
