Due to Coronavirus, we are still operating safely. Everyone will have their temperature checked on arrival and be asked to sanitise their hands.

While the parents are sharing ideas and supporting each other in the meeting, one of our volunteers can look after the children in our playroom but this must be booked in advance.

RUILS is a dynamic local user-led charity which employs family support workers to run a project called Family Matters which is a service for families of children aged from one to 25 with a disability or additional needs.

The aim of this project is to work holistically with families to help them find the tools to enable and strengthen their ability to cope with the considerable difficulties they face which could be challenging behaviour, insomnia, isolation, grief, getting respite, being a lone parent, dealing with the system if English is your second language or simply the endless paperwork.

Family support workers will work on a 1:1 basis working alongside the family to help them to focus on the areas that can be improved. This can be by connecting to better services, by being with them for difficult meetings, helping to write letters, challenge assessments, give advice about benefits, finding out about riding for the disabled or which swimming teachers are best for children with ASD, to introduce them to support groups and to other parents who may be going through similar difficulties or by simply listening over a cup of coffee.

RUILS offers 1:1 sessions at Skylarks so if you need some advice, support or signposting for you or your child, please book a space.

Creche facilities are available at Skylarks. Please book this separately by emailing info@skylarks.charity
