Who we are:
Advocacy and Mediation Consultants

Advocacy and Mediation Consultants Limited (AMC) is an independent specialist advice, advocacy and dispute resolution service for parents, schools, public and private organisations which provides informed and collaborative advocacy and mediation in the areas of education and social care. The consultancy specialises in offering services to families with children with special educational needs or disabilities with a cost effective means of supporting families throughout the UK via a named specialist advocate. We aim to provide independent and informed advice to parents and carers and negotiate and liaise with schools, LA and professionals to seek the provision, support and placement preferred by the parents.

We support parents throughout the Special Educational Needs process and manage up to 100 cases through the SEND Tribunal process each year. We also deliver training throughout the UK to schools, parent groups and Local Authorities on the Special Educational Needs process, Tribunal system and parent engagement.

Members can seek advice on all matters relating to their children’s special educational needs: e.g. transfer from statement to Education, Health and Care Plan, reviewing paperwork and reports from schools and professionals, correspondence with the LA , drafting letters, requesting statutory assessment, drafting parental advice, responding to proposed EHC Plan, annual review process, transition for secondary or Post 16 etc. We will provide sample letters and fact sheets depending on the particular client’s circumstances. Please note that if attendance at a meeting or drafting of a formal letter is required, AMC will charge the parents/carers for these services. All charges will be discussed in advance.

AMC will keep electronic secure records of all paperwork and minutes of meetings with you.

What you will need to provide:

Depending on the type of advice you are seeking we will need to see records concerning your child’s educational needs. We request that you provide us with copies of all relevant reports and that these reports are paper clipped together and not stapled. Paperwork can be emailed but AMC reserve the right to charge a nominal cost for printing or copying. We will email you a list of the relevant document that we will need to see depending on the issues to be considered

Families need to be registered with Skylarks before accessing our advocacy and mediation service. Please register with us before booking your appointment.
