Spread Your Wings: Empowering Neurodivergent Young People for the Future
Following successful delivery at Richmond College and 6 Oaks, Skylarks' Spread Your Wings programme continues to grow, supporting neurodivergent young people and young people with additional needs to develop the skills, confidence, and aspirations needed to thrive in adulthood, employment, and further education.
As the programme expands, we are creating even more opportunities for young people to gain practical skills, explore career pathways, and build confidence for the future.
Exciting Partnerships Creating New Opportunities
We are delighted to be expanding the opportunities available to our young people through partnerships with innovative organisations and industry experts.
JetLearn Technology Courses
As technology continues to shape the future workplace, Skylarks has partnered with JetLearn to offer exciting digital learning opportunities for our young people.
Through courses such as:
- Website Development
- Enter the World of Text-Based Coding
participants develop valuable digital and coding skills while building confidence in STEM subjects. These courses provide practical experience and help young people explore future careers within technology and innovation.
The Money Charity
Financial confidence is an essential life skill, and we are proud to work with The Money Charity to provide engaging workshops that help young people understand:
- Budgeting and money management
- Saving and financial planning
- Understanding payslips and workplace finances
- Banking and financial products
- Making informed financial decisions
These sessions equip young people with practical knowledge that will support them throughout adulthood, further education, and employment.
Creating Meaningful Pathways into Employment
A key aim of Spread Your Wings is to bridge the gap between education and employment. We continue to work closely with employers, businesses, colleges, and community partners to create meaningful opportunities for our graduates.
We are actively seeking partnerships that can offer:
- Work experience placements
- Employer mentoring
- Industry visits
- Skills workshops
- Supported employment opportunities
By working together, we can help break down barriers and create more inclusive workplaces where neurodivergent young people can thrive.
Looking Ahead
Following the successful delivery of Spread Your Wings at Richmond College and 6 Oaks, we are excited to explore opportunities to bring the programme to even more young people across London and beyond.
With Skylarks now operating from both our Twickenham and Hounslow centres, we are well positioned to expand our reach and develop future opportunities for young people, families, schools, colleges, and employers.
We look forward to building new partnerships, developing additional course opportunities, and helping even more young people gain the confidence, skills, and experience they need to achieve their goals.
