RICHMOND BOROUGH MIND

With Creative Youth and Mind in Kingston, we offer free Mindful Art sessions for young people aged 12-25 on Tuesday, 4-5pm at our Youth Zone, 2 Bucklands Wharf, Kingston. Extra hour until 6pm for drop-in 1-to-1 support sessions with a youth support worker. Simply turn up or email youth.service@rbmind.org



 Wild Mind offers various Wellbeing Programmes for young people.
 
Young people who are feeling low, anxious, stressed or isolated are welcome to join this free 
programme. 
 
The programme offers a range of creative & fun nature-based activities.
 
Both art and nature can make a significant difference to mental fitness. Our programme can help to release stress or alleviate symptoms of depression, build optimism and develop a sense of belonging.

CAMPING FOR CHILDREN WITH COMPLEX NEEDS

Our camps are held at Ivy Farm, Ivy Lane, East Mersea, Colchester, CO5 8US.

Camp Jojo’ is a registered charity set up by people with first-hand experience of the joys and challenges faced when parenting a child with complex needs. We have the vision to support families of children with complex needs and disabilities to enjoy a totally accessible camping holiday and make new friends who understand their situation. GYMNASTICS

Richmond Gymnastics run sessions for those with a disability and/or additional needs.

As well as producing World and European medallists and running one of the largest recreational programmes in the country, Richmond Gymnastics provides Disability and Inclusion gymnastics offering children with additional needs the opportunity to get involved with sport activities. Richmond Gymnastics are also keen to talk to organisations working with special needs children within the London Borough of Richmond to open up further opportunities for children to take part.

Marble Hill Playcentres

Marble Hill Playcentres runs special free sessions for children with additional needs on the first Saturday of every month.

The Polka Theatre

OKMT

Otakar Kraus Music Trust runs a variety of musical events, such as drumming workshops and Interactive Poetry Workshops.

These are generally for children and young people with additional needs aged up to 18 and their siblings.

Movers & Makers offer holiday clubs for children aged 4-12 years who have mild additional needs.

Integral Harmony

RISE Swimming club

RISE offers a swimming club on Tuesday evenings for young people with SEND aged 8 to 18 years who can already swim a length of the pool and live or go to school in the borough of Richmond. This stroke improver club is at Teddington pool from 6.00 - 6.45pm in term time. There are a couple of spaces available now and a couple more becoming available in September.

Richmond Mencap

Richmond Mencap offers activities for age 8-17 in holiday periods.



Richmond Upon Thames Inclusive Sport & Exercise (RISE)

Activities for adults, children and young people aged 8 years and over.
 
Sessions take place at Whitton Sports Centre, Twickenham School, Percy Road, Whitton, TW2 6JW.
Adult and Junior Football will run 11.15am-12.15pm with coach J-F from Kew Park Rangers.
Multi-sport will run 12.15-1.15pm with a coach from Disability Sports Coach UK
 
These sessions are indoors and numbers will be kept low. The introductory price for these activities will be £4 per person per session. There is no charge for parents, carers or support staff.

EnhanceAble

EnhanceAble is a charity supporting children and adults living with disabilities. They run some after school clubs for Kingston families and currently have spaces:
  • Flyers is an after school club for children and young people aged 5-18 who have complex needs. It meets on Tuesdays 4-5.30. The group is able to give children 1:1 support. if necessary. 
  • Ribbons after school club for children 5-11 on Mondays 4-5.30
  • Kites for children 11-18, with mild to moderate disabilities, especially Autism. 5.45 - 7.15 alternate Tuesdays
These groups have a staffing level of 1:3 and meet in term time only.

Hounslow: Sharing their World: Sharing Their World

there are three Sharing Their World groups taking place across the borough of Hounslow. This is a relaxed, supportive group for families where there is a child under 5 with SEND. In order to attend, there is no need for a child to have a formal diagnosis. Family Explorer Time at the Museum Depot in Acton

London Transport Museum sometimes open the Museum’s Depot in Acton for family visitors during the holidays

LTM will send out a Visual Story of a visit to the Depot in advance and ensure that the Front of House team on site are extra welcoming and prepared for your family’s needs and enjoyment.

Kingston Libraries - activities for home educating families


Last month we launched two new monthly Chatterbooks Reading Clubs for children aged 6-8 and 9-11, after school on Zoom. We chat about books and have a suggested book of the month, plus quizzes, creative writing and illustration activities. If you'd like your child to join, please book online through Eventbrite It's free.
We also have some good online study resources, like free access to Britannica Online Junior and Student editions, plus events for all age groups.

TailfeatherTV is a new YouTube channel which creates programmes and content for babies, toddlers and children which are co-written and presented by young adults with learning disabilities.

Online dance classes from Blue Phoenix

New SEND online dance classes for children and adults. They are being run by Tom, who up until Christmas, ran the RISE (Richmond inclusive sports) dance sessions.

The sessions follow a routine, starting off by welcoming each participant, using speech, Makaton and pictures. This is followed by a warm up), teaching a routine, and then some free dance where the students take it in turns to choose the music.

TAG Youth Club


TAG Youth Club in Ham is providing 1:1 opportunities for young people at Ham Youth Centre.  These will be on Wednesday and Fridays.  Each person will be allocated a room with its own access points.  Toilets are available, however we ask that you go to the toilet before you leave home.  Equipment and touch points will be cleaned between users. Time slots available between 6pm and 9.30pm.

Main Hall - 1:1 Parkour Classes, 30 minute physical sessions, gym gear and trainers should be worn.  Classes will be delivered by our qualified Parkour Coach from Toolbox Movement.  Access to and from will be via the Main Hall Fire Exit.

Art Room -  1:1 Sessions with a Youth Worker.  A chance to play a board game, do some art and crafts and have a chat. These sessions are for 30 minutes.  Access to and from will be via the Hallway Side Fire Exit.

IT Suite -  1:1 Sessions with a Youth Worker.  A chance to play a board game, do some art and crafts and have a chat.  These sessions are for 30 minutes. Access to and from will be via the Main Entrance.  

There are also running some 1:1 Parkour Classes during the day at Ham Youth Centre.
