Summer holiday programming: Hairdressing for children at Hampton Court Palace

Run by Lorraine
We know that having a haircut can be a challenging experience for many children with additional needs and it can be very stressful taking them (plus their siblings) to the hairdressers or barbers, which is why we offer this service to our families.

Why not combine a hair cut with a visit to Hampton Court Palace - with Skylarks staff and volunteers around to help?!

Lorraine our hairdresser will be available to cut children's hair in the Education Centre at Hampton Court Palace.

This will take place at Hampton Court as part of our Amazing Day Out on

Friday 31st July

at the following times:

10.30 - 11.00
11 - 11.30
11.30 - 12
12 - 12.30

1.30 - 2.00
2.00 - 2.30
2.30 - 3.00

PLEASE ONLY BOOK THIS ACTIVITY ONCE YOU HAVE BOOKED YOUR TICKETS TO HAMPTON COURT

You will need to book the tickets to Hampton Court separately - please book that HERE

If the haircut session you would like to attend is fully booked, please join the waiting list HERE and we will contact you if a space becomes available.

How it works:

Lorraine cuts hair with us regularly. Parents tell us that she is patient and kind and usually manages to cut the hair of even the most unwilling child. So save yourselves the stress of going to a mainstream barbers or hairdressers and come to a place where your child’s needs will be understood. There will also be toys for them and their siblings to play with and staff members or volunteers to help you.

The suggested donation is £6 which can be paid online through our website. We ask for a minimum £6 donation per haircut, but if you are used to paying more than this, please pay what you feel is appropriate.

On the day:

The hairdressing will take place in The Clore Education Centre (where you also receive your tickets, map and wristbands). Then you are free to roam around the grounds, go inside the Palace, visit the Secret Garden children's playground and have a lovely day out. The Clore Centre will be our base for the day so you can come back for some quiet time, have coffee or squash and use the facilities. There is a sensory room, you can borrow a sensory back-pack, do some arts and crafts and dressing up activities. You are welcome to bring a picnic or packed lunch and eat it in the Clore Centre or anywhere in the grounds. There are also cafes available. Please note, not all our families will be able to access the Clore Centre at the same time, so we will ask you to stagger your lunch break times.
