Summer holiday programming: Heathrow Special Needs Farm

Run by Skylarks staff and volunteers
We are pleased to offer some visits to Heathrow Special Needs Farm this summer

Wednesday 22nd July
and
Wednesday 12th August

The farm is open from 10am to 1.30pm

Join staff and volunteers from Skylarks at this safe, secure and friendly community farm environment with facilities designed for children and adults with various disabilities and special needs.

Who is this for:

Please note we are opening this activity up to children aged 7 and above. If your child is under the age of 7, we will unfortunately not be able to accept your booking.

The whole site is wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible toilet.

There is mud, soil and animals, so please wear old clothes and be prepared to get messy! Please wear closed toe shoes, not open toed sandals.

Booking:

This is a small group activity. We have only a limited number of places. Please book every adult or child who will be attending and write the number of places you would like to attend in the notes. We regret we cannot open this up to the wider family eg grandparents and cousins.

This is a small group day trip - please do not book more than one session per holiday in total (ie please do not book this, plus Holly Lodge). If you book a lot of activities, we will ask you to choose and to cancel some bookings, to allow other families to access our services. You can put yourself on our waiting lists and we will contact you if spaces become available.

More details:

This safe, secure and friendly community farm has facilities designed for children and adults with various disabilities and additional needs.

They care for over 45 animals, including horses, donkeys, pigs, sheep, goats, ducks, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs.

Activities include feeding, grooming, cleaning, mucking out, egg collection, duck pond maintenance, ‘poo picking’ in fields and arenas, and upkeep of three purpose-built muck heap areas. Your child does not have to take part in these activities, they can just enjoy the atmosphere and admire the animals!

There are lots of lovely places to sit outside in the sunshine and they also have indoor seating. There is also an indoor activity room where we will have arts and crafts activities and a break out space.

The cafe is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This not-for-profit community hub is managed by disadvantaged young people. This professional-style café operates as more than just a spot to enjoy a cuppa; it’s a training facility where individuals gain hands-on experience in cash handling and café management

The farm is in the top left hand corner of Heathrow Airport. It is very near the airport, so can be a good place to watch and hear aeroplanes too (depending on which runway is in use!).

  • Free: On site parking
  • Bus number 81 from Hounslow takes about 30 minutes
