Cooking Up Taster Sessions
Tuesday 3rd October OR
Tuesday 17th October (please only book one of the taster sessions)
4pm - 5.30pm
Cooking Up is running a free 5- week course for Skylarks for children and young people with additional needs who want to learn to cook affordable, tasty meals for themselves and their families.
Cooking Up is a charity aiming to enhance the health and wellbeing of people facing challenging circumstances in the London Borough of Richmond and neighbouring boroughs, by enabling them to cook healthy, tasty food for themselves and their families. You can find out more here: https://www.cookingup.org
We are offering two taster sessions on Tuesdays 3rd & 17th October so your child can decide if they would like to book the 5 week free cookery course starting after half term on Tuesday 31st October.
The taster sessions and the full 5 week course are for children and young people aged 10 and above. Parents/carers are expected to stay on the premises and join in with their child as appropriate. This is a chance for all the family to learn together! Please note: your child will be taught knife skills if appropriate to them.
Each week on the main course, you can join staff and volunteers from Cooking Up in their mobile kitchen at the Crossway Centre, where they will help you to cook a meal for up to 4 people. They will provide all ingredients, aprons and equipment, and a take-away carton for you to transport your cooking home. The food produced will all be vegetarian and nutritionally balanced. You’ll get a recipe card so you can make it again yourself anytime. If you need them, they will provide a starter pack of basic ingredients and utensils for you to use at home.
