Phyz Support Group

Skylarks is pleased to host the Phyz support group, which is run by parents for parents.

Phyz Group is a support group for parents and carers of children with physical disabilities. They hold regular coffee morning with us in Twickenham from 10.00 to 12 midday on Fridays to provide support, information and share experiences.

The next face to face meetings are:

Friday 6th May
Friday 10th June
Friday 8th July

"Children with physical disabilities and their families have a particular range of things to deal with – the members of Phyz have all sorts of experience: various types of physiotherapy, equipment from standing frames to installing a lift at home, encounters with orthopaedic surgeons, experiences with hippotherapy, riding for the disabled, hydrotherapy and adapted sailing: we’ve navigated the minefields of wheelchair vehicles, cursed inaccessible public transport and toilets, deciphered the blue badge and taxi-card schemes, grappled with supporting our children in school and yet we are still learning and still have much to share."

They also have occasional pub nights and other outings.

They also host get togethers by Zoom in the evenings.

Previous events:

Thursday 21st April 2022 at 8pm via Zoom and the topic is SUPPORT AT UNIVERSITY.

Is your young person with a physical disability thinking about going to university? Parents are invited to join this informal support group to find out more about how to get the right support in place at university. A small group of parents whose young people are currently at university will share their experiences of getting support in place, from personal assistants, wheelchair access, social care, PIP, Disabled Students Allowances, transport, finance and more.

Please book below to be sent the Zoom link.
