Marble Hill kitchen garden play days

Run by Gabi from Skylarks
Marble Hill Kitchen Garden

We are pleased to be able to offer another place where you can bring your children play in some fresh air in a stress-free environment in the holidays.
We are very pleased that English Heritage have given us exclusive use of their small kitchen garden at Marble Hill Park on Mondays and Fridays over the summer holidays.

Certain days in the summer holidays:

Friday 30th July 10.30 – 12 and 12.30 – 2
Mon 2nd August  9-10.30 and 10.30-12
Friday 6th August 10.30 – 12 and 12.30 – 2
Mon 9th Aug 9-10.30 and 10.30-12
Fri 13th Aug 10.30 – 12 and 12.30 – 2
Mon 16th Aug 9-10.30 and 10.30-12
Fri 20th Aug 10.30 – 12 and 12.30 – 2

You can also book a hair cut for your child to take place outside at Marble Hill Park on the following dates:

Friday 6th and Monday 16th August.

This small gated garden is used by local community groups to grow vegetables. It has a fence round the garden with one access gate. There is grass and some benches.
The kitchen garden can be found very near the car park and just beyond the playcentres (which are unfortunately closed).
Two members of our staff, Gabi/Siobhan/Susie/Fiona, will be there and usually a volunteer too. This is a stay and play session, so parents are expected to stay. We will have volunteers present to play with your children but you are still responsible for your children.
We can have 2 families in the garden at the same time, but they will need to keep socially distant from each other.   You are also welcome to come with one other family or grandparents if you are part of the same bubble and this will count as one family.
Our staff members will be there to help and supervise social distancing. Parents are however responsible for their children at all times.
We will provide some toys and activities that we will disinfect or quarantine between uses. These will be low-key ground-based activities so that we don’t damage plants – no ball games unfortunately. If you book a reasonable time in advance, this will allow us to bring suitable toys and plan our activities accordingly. We plan to have puzzles, plastic baby toys, arts and crafts, sensory toys etc, but please let us know if there is one of our toys that your child particularly likes and we will do our best to bring it with us.
The sessions will take place in most weathers, unless it is very heavy rain. Please dress yourself and your children appropriately and bring sun cream, umbrellas or wellies, depending on the weather. There is no inside space or cover apart from some trees.
You are welcome to bring a picnic rug or a fold-up chair for your own use.
You may want to bring some toys or games for your own use.
You are strongly encouraged to wear a mask or visor and to keep 2 metres distant of Skylarks staff and other families. We will have hand sanitiser and wipes available but you may want to bring your own too.
There are public toilets in the portakabins on the edge of the car park. These are cleaned every morning. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet.
There is wheelchair access to market garden, as the ground is flat but it will involve going across grass
You are welcome to bring a picnic or other food. No nuts or sesame as usual please.

Getting there:
Marble Hill Park is just round the corner from our usual venue. Go in the main gate with the big white stately home in front of you. Follow the path round to the left to the car park. From there walk over to the left towards the playcentres and you will see the gated garden ahead of you.

There is a pay and display car park at Marble Hill Park (currently £2.50 for up to 2 hours and £3.50 for up to 3 hours or free to English Heritage members. The car park is open till dusk. For sat nav users, the postcode for the car park is TW1 2NL.

There is also on street parking in nearby with a Richmond parking voucher or RingGo.

Bus numbers 33, 490, H22, R70 and R68 stop nearby and bus number H37 stops just round the corner at a stop called Poplar Court.
