Holly Lodge in Richmond Park has a lovely accessible nature trail with a large pond, woods, birdboxes, firm paths and raised ponds.
This summer we have exclusive access to Holly Lodge nature trail on certain dates. One family or household or social bubble can use this wonderful resource at a time. There are 2 slots each day, from 10am to 11.30am or from 1pm to 2.30pm, so two households can use it per day.
We are offering this activity to families who have been self-isolating or shielding, who are currently still avoiding crowded areas or who find going to the park too challenging. Our aim is to give a family somewhere different to go and an opportunity to enjoy some accessible outdoor space in a relaxed environment.
Please do not book more than one session. If there are spaces available we will contact you to offer you a second session.
There are toilets, including a fully accessible Changing Places toilet. There will be outdoor handwash and hand sanitising facilities. There will be a covered area or gazebo where you can eat a picnic if it is raining. Please note there will be no access to the indoor space, but you are still welcome to come whatever the weather!
The staff will set up activities for your family to do, such as bark rubbing, bug hunting, nature crafts etc, depending the ages and needs of your children.
The staff will be available on site but this is a self-access session with no formal activities or volunteers. You will need to make sure you have enough adults in your party. Please note there is open water, so you need to keep an eye on your children and be responsible for them at all times. There may also be tractors and horses nearby.
The event will take place at the Holly Lodge Centre, which is the head office and education centre in Richmond Park. Here is their Information Pack
, showing how to get there and also the dangers to be aware of on the site.
