Swimming Gala for
children with additional needs and disabilities
Sunday 15th March, 2020
Come and join the Skylarks swimming team!
The Lions Club International Swimming Gala for children with disabilities has become an annual fixture for Skylarks families as this will be the 4th year we are entering a team!
Our team of incredible children have won awards for best team effort and made us all incredibly proud.
We have once again been invited to take part in this annual event, on Sunday 15th March.
This is a perfect opportunity to take part in an accessible sporting event and raise funds for Skylarks - all children are invited to seek sponsorship.
Any number of lengths that your child can do is great, from 1 or more! All children taking part will receive a medal.
The event takes place at:
Hanworth Air Park Leisure Centre,
Uxbridge Road, Feltham TW13 5EG
This sports centre is just off the A316, a few minutes drive from the big Sainsbury’s in Hampton. There is an on-site car park and café.
This event is organised by the Lions Club International and this is the 29th year of holding the Gala.
The first race is usually at 3.30pm and the event usually finishes between 6pm and 7pm.
Parents do not have to enter the water but can if needed. These races are for young people under the age of 17 who have disabilities that would prevent them from taking part in a mainstream swimming gala.
All races start from in the water and at the shallow end. The length of the pool is 25 metres. Swimmers will be allowed to use buoyancy aids. Swimmers may be accompanied in the water by a “support swimmer”, providing this has been agreed in advance. The slowest swimmer will start at “go” and the remaining swimmers will start in sequence in accordance with times calculated according to their level of ability / disability.
If your child is interested in taking part in this swimming gala, please put your name down here and we will send you a registration form and sponsorship form for raising money.
Please note the DEADLINE for applying is Monday 24th February.
