From September 2020, when we re-open after the lockdown for Coronavirus, we will be operating in a different way. We need to ensure social distancing and extra hygiene measures in order to reduce the risk of an outbreak.
Our Stay and Play sessions will no longer be drop-in. Families must book in advance as numbers will be limited.
Our new Stay, Play and Support sessions on Friday mornings will allow ONE family or household to come to our playroom at the Crossway Centre. The playroom will be divided into two and you will have half the room where your children can play, while you are in the same room talking to a member of Skylarks staff for support, information and advice. Depending on the size of your family, we may also be able to have a volunteer in the room to play with your children. Another family will be socially-distanced with their children and a staff member in the other half of the room.
We will have a box of toys per family. These will then be quarantined for at least 72 hours. If there is a particular toy that your child/ren like, please let us know and we will do our best to make it available.
· You need to book EACH child in, so that we know numbers to expect
· If you have not booked, you will unfortunately not be able to attend
· You will need to leave your session promptly as we need to clean toys and equipment before the next family arrives.
What do I need to do before I come?
Please bring a mask and/or visor with you for all adults (unless exempt).
Please read our new guidelines carefully.

What will happen when I arrive at the Crossway Centre?
There will be hand sanitising points throughout the building. Everyone must sanitise their hands on arrival and before leaving.
All adults and children will have their temperature taken using a digital contactless thermometer.
You will be asked to wear a mask and/or visor, unless you are exempt. Children do not have to wear a mask but may do so.
Buggies and prams must be left outside if possible, under the fire escape. For those who need their buggy/wheelchair inside because of medical equipment etc, please leave it at the far end of the hall where it will not obstruct exits or access to the lift.
What will sessions at the Crossway Centre look like?
Sessions will be shortened. We are planning to be open from 3pm to 5pm on Tuesdays and from 10am to 12 midday on Fridays
All staff and volunteers will wear face masks and/or visors. The staff will also wear blue tabards, so that you can recognise us!
We have added in extra hygiene measures. The staff and volunteers will clean high use areas frequently, will wash hands regularly and sanitise all communal equipment.
The staff will encourage social distancing. This means that you will be encouraged to come only for the activity you have booked in for and not to stay and chat unfortunately.
Please try not to use the lift unless you have to, as Skylarks staff can’t accompany families in the lift at the moment.
Food and drink will not be provided by Skylarks. We can’t make you a cup of tea or coffee at the moment. You may bring your own snacks, but please do not share them and please do not bring anything containing nuts or sesame. Please do not leave water bottles where they might be used by others. Please supervise your children when eating to make sure they don’t leave food lying around and please clean up any spillages or leftovers.
The playroom will be set up with fewer toys than usual. We won’t have soft toys and unfortunately we cannot have the sensory room at the moment. All communal toys and equipment will be cleaned between uses. Each family will be provided with their own box of toys, equipment or instruments to use at the sessions which will then be quarantined for 72 hours before the next use.
Please wipe the toilet down, especially the seat and handle, after you or your child have used it.
If your child has a toileting accident, we ask you to clean up, as staff and volunteers can no longer do this. We will provide gloves and cleaning materials. Please have a spare set of clothes with you.
Donations can be made by contactless card reader, not in cash.
Anyone who is feeling unwell or showing any Covid-19 symptoms is asked not to attend. The symptoms can vary from person to person and from adults to children but may include:
· a high temperature
· a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
· a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
· breathing difficulties
· vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps in children
When booking, you will need to tick to say that you agree with the following statements and procedures:
I confirm that my family and I do not have symptoms of Coronavirus and will cancel our booking if we develop symptoms
I confirm that my family and I have not knowingly been in close contact with anyone with a confirmed case of Coronavirus in the last 2 weeks
I confirm that my family and I have not returned from any country requiring quarantine in the last 2 weeks
I will follow the Coronavirus safety routines used by Skylarks
